Minaret University Ikirun, Nigeria, has extended its warmest congratulations to its Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Science and Computing, Professor Sir Bashiru Aremu, on being recognized as a World Record Holder by Noble Book of World Records, an official Partner of United Nations Environment Programme and other organizations worldwide.

Daily Independent learnt this from Prof. Aremu Sir Bashiru Aremu today being Tuesday, January 6, 2026 in a telephone conversation as he stated that, as the First African UNESCO Laureate, his name had entered into the Noble Book of World Records, a prestigious publication that documents human and natural achievements.

Prof Aremu who used medium to appreciate the leadership of Noble Book of World Records on global honor, recognition, awards. Also, extends his words of appreciation to his family, Professional and academia colleagues,
friends and well-wishers; and most importantly to to the leadership of Minaret University Ikirun, Nigeria for their support and the celebrations accorded to him as award to mark his outstanding creative and intellectual achievement.

Prior to this time he has Multiple World Records by several bodies, including the Netaji World Records and Asian Bengal Book of Records, for his educational contributions and global achievements.

UNESCO Laureate was honored owing to his global achievements. Speaking to our reporter, he unfolded some of his global creative and intellectual achievements as a world leader, global recognitions, education and research, legacy and dedication to innovation and mentorship as well as what NWR represents are outlined below: “Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu is a world-renowned professor of Computer Science and Information Technology, celebrated for his extensive contributions to higher education, research, and international collaboration”.

“He holds numerous academic and leadership positions globally, including Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Kings and Queens Medical University College, Ghana, and Africa Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council (UNACCC), an official partner of the United Nations”.

“Prof. Aremu had pioneered research in computer science and IT. He has gained international recognition, with notable Contributions in areas such as biometrics and e-business. He has authored and edited numerous academic publications and serves on the editorial boards of international journals. Prof. Aremu is also known for mentoring students who have gone on to achieve significant academic positions”.

“Prof. Aremu has received extensive recognition for his work, including being the First African UNESCO Laureate, an award for outstanding creative and intellectual achievement. He has also received the World Acclaimed Distinguished Professor Emeritus Award from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and other institutions. His accolades include the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in the USA and fellowships from the Royal Society for the Arts, Manufacturers & Commerce (RSA), UK, and the British Computer Society, England”.
